Naomi Wolf, in an op-ed in Toronto’s Globe and Mail, argues that Angelina Jolie has demonstrated that by owning her narrative Jolie has been able to retain her personal dignity following her recent preventative double mastectomy.

On the other hand, Michael Douglas, reportedly a long time smoker and drinker, blames his throat cancer on oral sex, claiming also that oral sex could cure his type of cancer. Scientists demur, but at least the kerfuffle has raised awareness.
